The Coconut Development Council is organizing a national program on “Scientific Coconut Cultivation, Processing and Adding Value” from April 26 to May 1 for the benefit of coconut farmers under the national campaign “Annadata Devo Bhava -Kisan Bhaghidari Prathmikta Hamari”.

The program will be launched on a virtual platform by the Minister of Agriculture and Union Farmers’ Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar.

Sensitization seminars on “Scientific Coconut Cultivation, Processing and Adding Value” will be organized at the national, state and district levels, as well as at the level of agricultural producer organizations, for the benefit of the whole of the coconut farming community. in the countryside.

The program will involve around 20,000 coconut farmers. The campaign is organized in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), CPCRI, State Agriculture, Horticulture and Agricultural Producer Organizations. Four state-level programs will take place in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and Goa.

Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Bihar, West Bengal, Chattisgarh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Assam, Tripura and Nagaland are among the belts potential for coconut cultivation. As part of the campaign, about 80 coconut seminars will be held.

A Coconut Center of Excellence and Farmer Training and Administration Building are being inaugurated under the program in Dhali, Tiruppur district, Tamil Nadu, and Hichachara, South Tripura, respectively.

In addition to technology transfer, the Dhali Coconut Center of Excellence aims to demonstrate improved coconut cultivation technologies and serve as a major source/supplier of coconut planting material. Across the country. The establishment of the Coconut Training Center in Tripura is a watershed moment in the development of coconut farming, especially in the northeastern states.

As part of the campaign, around 80 seminars on various aspects of coconut cultivation, processing and value addition will be held.

A three-day virtual coconut products trade fair will also be organized to demonstrate the versatile utility of coconut, which includes food, sweeteners and beverages, as well as non-food products. It allows potential buyers and traders to tour the various coconut products on offer.
