The new game of Devotion developer Red Candle Games, Nine Floorsreceived its first full trailer and launched its crowdfunding campaign.
This first trailer for Nine Floors finally shows the game in action, giving us a good first look at the hand-drawn 2D action platformer with sekiro– inspired deflection-focused combat, immersive storytelling, and a unique Taopunk setting. Red Candle Games has also launched a crowdfunding campaign for the game, which has already hit its target of around £80,000 (NT$3,000,000). A game description reads, “Explore the land that once housed an ancient alien race and follow a vengeful hero’s quest to slay the Nine Sols, fearsome rulers of this abandoned realm.”
Red Candle Games outlined their vision for Nine Floors on its crowdfunding page, saying the studio wants to “Build a sleek Taopunk world that blends cyberpunk/sci-fi elements with Taoism and Far Eastern mythology.” He also wants to recreate the focused deviation sekiro combat but for 2D, as well as mixing with side-scrolling exploration. And the studio also wants to “incorporate anime/manga-influenced craftsmanship and a dark electronic sound mixed with oriental instruments.”
Nine Floors is currently working towards its ambitious goals. The first stretch of around £160,000 is to add a story mode to provide a more accessible difficulty for non-hardcore gamers. Other stretch objectives include an alternate ending, an in-game cutscene, and hidden bosses.
Currently, Nine Floors is scheduled to release on Steam for PC and Mac, as well as Nintendo and Sony consoles, but due to the game’s stage of development, the studio cannot provide a definitive list at this time.
There are also several rewards contributors can earn, such as an action figure, a physical art book, and the ability to leave a personalized in-game message.
