National Pet Month 2022: What is the campaign and how does it celebrate and support responsible pet ownership?


This year’s National Pet Month, celebrated annually in April, will begin this Friday (April 1).

Before the campaign begins, we take a closer look at its goals and how families in the North East can get involved.

The National Pet Month initiative advocates and raises awareness of responsible pet ownership through a range of resources, including educational campaigns in schools and highlighting the great work of animal welfare organizations on social networks.

It is coordinated by the National Office of Animal Health (NOAH) and the Pet Food Manufacturers Association (PMFA), and some of the campaign goals are:

*Promoting Responsible Pet Ownership

*Raising awareness of the mutual benefit of living with pets

*Encourage fundraising for charities and UK pet welfare organizations

National Pet Month runs through Monday, May 2, with families across the North East and beyond encouraged to get involved in spreading the campaign’s important messages, not just in the month ahead , but throughout the year.

As the campaign gathers pace in the coming weeks, animal lovers are invited to get in touch and share fundraising details for the good causes they have chosen.
