This is the defining story of our time – what the United Nations has called a “Code Red” emergency for humanity.
The climate crisis has already put almost half of the world’s population at risk from floods, fires and extreme heat and threatens the very future of life on the planet.
But that’s only half the story. The other half is the story of what we can do about it.
Today we would like to start telling you more about this story.
Around 90% of countries, including Ireland, have committed to zero carbon emissions by 2050.
But how are we going to end this reliance on fossil fuels, which is increasingly militarized in wars such as the horrific conflict in Ukraine?
In this “Reach For Zero” campaign, [running jointly across Reach websites, titles and platforms] we want to try to share this story with you:
- How the world is fighting back with inspiring solutions and actions.
- How we already have the ideas and know how to make this decade the science of action says it needs to be
- How ordinary people are doing extraordinary things to transform our cities and communities into healthier places to live with safer food supplies, better housing and cheaper energy, as well as creating jobs while providing nature and wildlife a recovery space
- How you too have the power of this change in your own home and your own hands
It is a story of hope. The story of how we can all together “Reach For Zero” and choose your own future
