Scott Byrd announces his candidacy for Coffee County Sheriff.

As an APOST-certified officer, Byrd has served in law enforcement for the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office since 1999 and as a Reserve Captain since 2010. A veteran, he served in the United States Coast Guard. United States and Alabama National Guard. In addition to his 23-year tenure with the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, Byrd has also been a local business owner since 1992, owning Southern Electrical as a Certified Alabama Electrician.

“After serving the residents of Coffee County for the past 23 years as a Reserve Deputy and Captain, the time has come for me to step forward to serve as Sheriff. This ever-changing world needs a strong leader to guide, protect, help and serve the residents of Coffee County. My goal is to be a community sheriff, a sheriff who not only works for the deputies but also for every citizen of Coffee County. You will discover in the months to come that my commitment to protecting the members of this wonderful community is unwavering and my word is my commitment.

Born and raised in Enterprise to Roy and Judy Byrd, Byrd currently resides in the New Hope community with his wife KD Byrd and two daughters. Growing up with his parents and grandparents, QP and Willie Mae Jones and Edward and Carrie Bell Byrd, he learned the basics of putting God first, working hard, and putting others before himself.

He looks forward to hearing from the citizens of Coffee County.
