Gillette, Wyo. –Gillette Ward 3 City Council member Shay Lundvall announced he is running for mayor of Gillette.
“I know Gillette’s potential and I am determined to unleash it,” he said in a press release Thursday. “As mayor, I will stand up and say no to the easy way out, and ensure that our current priorities and plans align with our growth goals.”
Lundvall, who was born and raised in Gillette, said it was the biggest city in the country and he wanted to showcase it nationally and globally.
“I want to put our wonderful city on the national stage as a leader in manufacturing, government/private partnerships, site development, technology and innovation,” he said. “It’s time to show the world what the city of Gillette can do.”

Lundvall holds a degree in landscaping and business administration from South Dakota State University. The statement said that as head of business development for Earth Work Solutions, Lundvall understands the economic challenges Gillette and Campbell County face.
Lundvall was elected to city council in 2016 as a representative of Ward 3, the southwestern part of Gillette.
He and his wife, Lindsey Lundvall, have two children.
