Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada prepares for the successful implementation of the central government’s Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The campaign, which runs from August 11-17, will see homes hoist the national flag, and the district has assigned women’s self-help groups to embroider the tricolor.
Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Mission (KSRLMComment) instructed the Sanjeevini SHG at the district gram panchayat level to prepare the national flags. A training program for 62 women SHG members of Rudset Institute, Ujire, was organized on Friday, to teach national flag stitching, in accordance with the Amendment of the Flag Code of India, 2021.
A statement from the information and public relations department said the materials needed to make the flag were purchased from shops in Mangaluru and Bengaluru.
The women, who have been trained under the program, will start sewing flags and imprinting the Ashoka Chakra on them in various gram panchayats in the district. Later, the flags will be handed over to the Sanjeevini SHG of KSRLM, who will market them.
