INDIANAPOLIS — Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) today launched a crowdfunding campaign to expand and modernize Indy Reads public space.
Indianapolis residents will soon have more space for community literacy if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by July 5, 2022. If successful, the bookstore-led project at Indianapolis-based nonprofit, Indy Reads, will receive a matching grant through the IHCDA. Program of creation of places.
Funds from this campaign will be used to make the bookstore and programming space more accessible, including an ADA-compliant front door and public restroom, a stage with a public address system for community events, new community murals and artwork and technology upgrades to help the organization. by offering free literacy programs.
The CreatINg Places program began in 2016, the projects have raised over $6.2 million in government funds and an additional $5.2 million in matching funds from IHCDA.
