Changing the world can start anywhere, and a new campaign from CQUniversity showcases some of Queensland’s regional projects that are transforming lives.
CQUniversity’s Changemaker campaign features evocative stories about innovative ideas and passionate people who are making a real impact.
Through three inspiring video and television ads, the campaign also highlights CQUniversity’s unique commitment to empowering students, staff and communities to drive social and environmental impact.
CQUniversity initiatives in the campaign include:
U-Beach Universal Beach Access, a Bundaberg research and community engagement project aimed at making beaches more accessible to people with disabilities or reduced mobility,
Regional Medical Pathway, Australia’s first initiative supporting school leavers in the Rockhampton and Bundaberg region, including targeted First Nations student positions, to study medicine in their own communities and help address the shortages of local doctors,
Landfill Waste to Automobile Fuel, a Rockhampton clean energy research project transforming plastic waste,
Tucker Time, an award-winning food rescue and training partnership that trains unemployed central Queensland workers for hospitality jobs, while making nutritious meals available to those in need,
Gabai Native Bee Project, connecting backyard beekeepers with indigenous knowledge to support and grow sustainable native bee populations.
CQUniversity Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Nick Klomp said the campaign was a celebration of change and community.
“Across our national footprint, CQUniversity empowers people and projects to have enormous social impact, and our new Changemaker campaign celebrates what is being achieved right here in the Queensland region,” said Professor Klomp.
“We know that young people increasingly want a career that makes a difference in our world, and I hope the campaign inspires everyone to see how this is possible with CQUniversity.
“Our commitment to social innovation means that we work with our students, stakeholders and communities to achieve lasting social and environmental change – and that’s at the heart of CQUniversity.”
Last month, CQUniversity was certified as Australia’s first and only social enterprise university, recognizing its unique commitment to change and social impact.
CQUniversity has joined iconic Australian organizations such as Who Gives A Crap, Landcare Australia and Thankyou Group, to achieve Social Traders certification.
This recognition builds on CQUniversity’s work as Australia’s only Changemaker University, accredited by the global social change network Ashoka U since 2016.
The Changemaker campaign is airing from this week on Queensland regional television and in the coming weeks on digital platforms nationally.
CQUniversity’s partner creative agency, Brother & Co, led the development and production of the creative concept in collaboration with content studio Light and Shade.
