National One-Day Covid Booster Dose Campaign on July 19

A national one-day Covid-19 booster dose campaign will be observed on July 19 (Tuesday) to speed up the vaccination program to combat the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.

According to sources at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), people aged 18 and over will be eligible to get a Covid-19 booster dose throughout the one-day campaign. They (eligible persons) will receive a booster dose of vaccination after four months.

Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the National Covid-19 Vaccine Management Task Force, said the government had set a target of administering 75 lakh booster doses within a day.

“Alongside the regular vaccination centers, we have set up additional centers to vaccinate targeted people with a booster dose of Covid-19,” he told BSS.

As of July 14, a total of 27, 95, 85, 685 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including booster doses, have been administered during the launch of the national vaccination campaign on February 7 last year.

“Till this date, Bangladesh has received over 30 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The country either obtained the vaccine doses from COVAX facilities or through purchase,” the DGHS said.
