Pirates Host Rider to kick off 2022 campaign

South Orange, NJ – The Seton Hall men’s soccer team kicks off the 2022 season Thursday night at Owen T. Carroll Field as the Pirates host Rider at 6:56 p.m.

The first 700 students in attendance for Thursday’s football doubleheader will receive a Seton Hall laptop sleeve. The women’s soccer team plays at 4:00 p.m. against the NJIT, followed by the men’s game.

The Pirates face a tough six-game non-conference slate to start the 2022 season, four of which will be away. Of those six non-league foes, five of them finished last season with a winning record. The toughest early-season test for the Pirates will be a trip west to face No. 5 Oregon State, a team that entered last year’s NCAA Tournament as the seed. series. This year, the Pirates will face five teams that finished in the top 25 in RPI last season (Oregon State: 2, Georgetown: 4, Providence: 14, Creighton: 17, Villanova: 23). The Pirates will also face seven teams that reached the NCAA Tournament in 2021, all of whom have won at least one game.

The Hall will face some of the best teams in the country this season. In addition to Oregon State’s No. 5 preseason, the Pirates also have Georgetown’s No. 2 preseason on their conference roster. It is the first time since 2010 that Seton Hall will face two of the top five pre-season teams in the United Soccer Coaches Ranking in the same season.
