Airport hospitality services company Plaza Premium Group introduces Lunar New Year offers to members and guests at its Plaza Premium Lounges, Aerotels and Smart Traveler loyalty program. The company said it was preparing “for a surge in travel during the Lunar New Year holiday season.”
From February 1 to February 7, 2022, visitors to Aerotel and Plaza Premium lounges (and affiliated lounges) in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan can scan a packet digital red via a QR code to reveal a 2022-themed lucky treat.
A new red packet will be unveiled each day. This includes offers such as 22% off Plaza Premium Lounge online reservations; -22% on Aerotel reservations online; a -22% discount on the purchase of a Plaza Premium Lounge pass 2 visits, 4 visits and 6 visits; 22 USD discount on an Aerotel online reservation (with a minimum spend of 100 USD) and 2022 additional Arrture points when spending 222 USD or more via Smart Traveller. To take advantage of the offers, customers can enroll in the Smart Traveler loyalty program. All discount codes will be valid from the date of scan until June 30, 2022 and can be gifted to friends through the Smart Traveler app.
During the Lunar New Year period, visitors to Plaza Premium lounges in Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan will be greeted with an exhibition of traditional decorations. Lunar New Year treats such as Go for it (Lunar New Year sticky rice cake), and traditional candy boxes filled with sweets and snacks will be available. In Singapore, lounge customers can enjoy a special Lunar New Year-themed cocktail before their flight.
Even if not traveling, existing and new Smart Traveler members can enjoy benefits from February 1 through February 15, 2022 through the app. From January 17 to February 7, 2022, anyone purchasing a Plaza Premium Lounge Pass will earn +22% Arrture Points in addition to their existing points.
Plaza Premium Group said its locations have already seen an increase in travelers in recent weeks, including mainland China, Taiwan, Macau, Malaysia and Singapore, where the Lunar New Year is widely celebrated.
He said, “From December 2021 to present, the number of visitors to the Plaza Premium Lounge in Qingdao, Macau, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore has increased up to three times compared to November 2021. Singapore being a plate international hub of key transit as well as Welcoming expats from China and Malaysia, Plaza Premium Lounge Singapore and Aerotel Singapore saw up to +10% more travelers from Mainland China and +15% from more travelers from Malaysia since December 2021 till today.
“The figures already show a significant increase in travel to the region, particularly compared to October and November 2021. Plaza Premium Group is confident that this trend will continue over the coming weeks ahead of the Lunar New Year which falls from February 1 to February 3, 2022. , and will be further accelerated by the Beijing Winter Olympics which begin on February 4, 2022.”
Overland travel by high-speed rail in mainland China is also expected to increase in the coming weeks. Plaza Premium Group expects demand for its high-speed rail lounges in Changsha, Guangzhou and Shenzhen to at least double as people travel across the country for both Lunar New Year and the upcoming Winter Olympics. will run until February 20.
