Rhayader Town campaign kick off with trophy win at Carno

TAI Jones played with two goals as Rhayader Town overcame a challenge from Carno to seal a 4-2 victory and a place in the second round of the Welsh Trophy this afternoon.

Jones struck twice before the Greens broke in with Ioan Humphreys and Tyler McCarthy restoring parity on the hour mark.

Sion Herman fired Rhayader in the lead before Bradley Goodwin took the victory late in the game.

Meanwhile, Adam Biggs struck twice as Llansantffraid left him late to seal a 2-1 win at home to Montgomery Town with Aiden Oakley for the Canaries.

Goals from Lyndon Jones and Rudi Griffiths guided Builth Wells to a 2-0 victory at Machynlleth.

Llanrhaeadr celebrated a 4-0 home win over Berriew with David Morris-Roberts, Ryan Broadbent, Sean Jones and James Burgess enough goals for the hosts.

Elsewhere, Dolgellau AA needed penalties to meet the Radnor Valley challenge after the sides canceled out a goalless draw at the Bypass before goalkeeper Cian Williams became the hero in a 4-1 shootout triumph.

Llandrindod Wells struggled for a 3-1 win over Tywyn Bryncrug at 10 which saw Gwilym Jones sent off after 24 minutes.

At that time, the Spamen led through Ashley Jones’ goal and a brace from Robbie Nicholls sealed their progress while Iwan Richards reduced the backlog.

Neil Mitchell led Caersws to a 4-0 home win over Meifod with two goals while strikes from Glynn Coney and Scott Williams ensured a comfortable afternoon for the Bluebirds.

Karl Seliaerts added a brace as goals from Nyasha Mwamuka, George Mitten, Jake Brown and Jack Jones completed the rout while Crosses responded with a brace from Will Howard and Jimmy Hayns’ strike.

Kieran Dovey scored four goals as Knighton Town made light work of Dyffryn Banw in a 5-1 win.

An own goal completed Knighton’s tally while Alwyn Jones reduced the backlog for the hosts.

Penparcau booked their place in the second round of the Welsh Trophy with a 2-1 win at home to Barmouth United on Friday night.

Goals from Ryan Edwards and Mattie Davies gave Arky an interval lead before the visitors staged a tense final with Paul Lewis reducing the backlog.

Meanwhile, Brecon Corries made light work of Cwmcarn United with goals from Joel Evans, Nathan Williams and Paul Keddle settling a 3-0 win at Rich Field.

Ryan Davies scored twice as Tregaron Turfs secured a 5-1 victory at Presteigne St Andrews.

Goals from Jac Hockenhull, Rhodri Jones and Dylan Davies completed the beating as the Turfs progressed to the second round.
