announces $20,000 donation from the Lisa Miller Cutten Foundation

Tops Friendly Markets will kick off this year’s “Check Out Hunger” campaign (Sunday, January 23 through Saturday, February 12) with a generous $20,000 donation from the Lisa Miller Cutten Foundation. This will have a direct impact on FeedMore WNY.

“FeedMore WNY is deeply grateful for the incredible partnership of the Lisa Miller Cutten Foundation,” said President and CEO Tara A. Ellis. “The foundation’s donation to our Food 2 Families event enabled us to provide $10,000 worth of turkeys to community members in need. This donation was matched by Tops Friendly Markets in complementary food products, allowing our hungry neighbors to enjoy a full and hearty meal. We are honored to have the Lisa Miller Cutten Foundation donate $20,000 to launch Tops Friendly Markets’ “Check Out Hunger” campaign for FeedMore WNY. The foundation’s generosity and support will help FeedMore WNY provide nutritious food and hope to children, families and seniors in Western New York.

Tops’ annual “Check Out Hunger” campaign has raised over $4,845,333 for participating food banks since 2006.

A press release said: “According to a recent study by Feeding America, more than 38 million people, including 12 million children, face food insecurity in the United States. With community support, however, we can make a difference. When shopping at Tops, simply tell your cashier that you would like to help Tops “Check Hunger,” and a $2, $3, or $5 donation will help provide food for your local food bank. »

“Eradicating hunger and helping our neighbors in need is part of Tops core mission, so supporting this effort on an annual basis is something we happily support,” said Kristen Hanson, Vice President of Center Store, Our Brands & Pharmacy; and board member of FeedMore WNY.

Participating food banks that will benefit from this year’s Check out Hunger campaign include:

  • FeedMore Western New York
  • Central New York Food Bank
  • Rochester Food Link
  • Southern Tier Food Bank
  • Hudson Valley Food Bank
  • Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania
