Valued community member Don Snyder will serve as honorary campaign chair for the United Way of Southern Nevada’s 65th anniversary


United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) is pleased to announce the appointment of former UWSN Board Member and Trustee Donald Snyder as Honorary 65th Anniversary Campaign Chair. Throughout 2022, UWSN will celebrate its longstanding community impact with iconic events to honor those who have helped the organization in its mission to help those in need and raise funds for decades to come. . Snyder, a much-loved Southern Nevada community leader, will lead these anniversary initiatives throughout the next year.

“I got involved with the United Way when I started my banking career over 50 years ago, becoming a volunteer leader when we moved our family to Las Vegas in 1988,” Snyder said. “I have seen the positive impact United Way has had in our community and the role it can play as we move forward.

With his extensive and influential contributions throughout the region, Snyder is the epitome of someone who truly cares about his community. After a long career in commercial banking, including 22 years with First Interstate Bank, he joined the hospitality industry, serving Boyd Gaming in the late 1990s as a member of the board of directors and later as chairman of the society. He also served as president of the Fremont Street Experience, served on the board of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, served as chairman of the Nevada Development Authority, and helped lead the Nevada Resort Association during a critical period of industry growth. Most recently, Snyder served as president of the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. An accomplished leader and resident of Las Vegas for over 34 years, he and his wife Dee have been actively involved in many other business ventures, charities and civic organizations, even providing volunteer leadership to grow the now beloved community. . institution, the Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
